The Fish Lake Trail is a somewhat quick, beautifully maintained multi-use course, ideal for cycling. We strongly recommend it. It is the unofficial north area of the Columbia Plateau Trail. It begins in Spokane simply off western Sunset Blvd, close to the intersection folks 195 and I-90. Re Re Re Search Bing maps for “Fish Lake Trailhead” plus it shall pop right up. Parking is abundant.
The path heads south and southwest in direction of Chaney, approximately after the Spokane-Chaney Road. The path crosses I-90 for a trestle, parallels US 195 for a rather brief distance (
Fantastic trail
Very nearly ten kilometers of paved path creates a great trip. The Fish Lake Trailhead in the north end has parking that is amplewith overflow parking available regarding the road), restrooms, and water fountains. Heading south from there, the path carefully rises around 1600 ft within the ten kilometers (about 3% grade, an average of) which makes it a ride that is easy. The southern 1 / 2 of it gives scenery that is amazing the path turns eastern and follows the Cheney-Spokane path through the valley. It presently (June 2015) comes to an end in the southern end of Queen Lucas Lake. I am hopeful for the staying BNSF property to be obtained therefore the path in order to connect aided by the Columbia Plateau Trail.
Effortless trip, gorgeous path
A great trail! All 10 kilometers are now actually paved and open with mile markers. It’s a set and simple path with less individuals compared to the Centennial Trail. The primary path mind is only a mile from downtown with restrooms, water fountains and parking.
New Asphalt past mile eight.
The path happens to be extended past Scribner Rd. It is not officially open yet but i possibly couldn’t resist and rode it anyhow. One . 5 kilometers of brand name asphalt that is new. At the conclusion there clearly was an eight base high string website link fence, and so I back monitored to Scribner. You can conceivably get across the fence nonetheless and drive the still-closed, gravel path.
During the Scribner that is now paved Rd. I rode as much as the Spokane-Cheney highway.( More or less 500 yards.)
Then rode the good wide neck about a mile . 5 up a small grade to Southern Meyers Park Rd. You will find brown indications showing the Fish Lake trailhead towards the left.
Sweet restrooms and loads of free parking. Then rode the gorgeous 3.75 kilometers into Cheney. There have been turtles that are many into the babbling brook operating down both sides associated with path. It is a really small grade that is uphill rocks and woodland. The smells were intoxicating.
Turned right where in actuality the asphalt ends and went a half mile into city. There clearly wasn’t much here into the method of drink and food but it’s possible to damp their whistle and relax prior to the return trip. We hit the mini-mart about a half mile down First St. for many fast power treats and rode back once again to the shady work work bench and kiosk during the path to savor them in tranquility.
Spring ’13-b
Chose to decide to try the Marshall to Spokane Memorial Park element of the path. Good section of the path, paved, but try not to just like the cyclists that are”road whom ride in packages often 3 abreast & force walkers from the part of this trail & examine walkers like they do not belong regarding the path. Luckily for us only encountered one group of in regards to a dozen. All single cyclists had been quite courteous.
Fish Lake Revisited
Fish Lake Revisited
Exactly what differ from final season. Then it absolutely was all construction and gravel and confusion during the end that is north. Bad TrailBear had been wandering about, looking the trail. No path can be found. He could not believe it is at Fish Lake ( maybe not here yet) in which east meet east review he could not believe it is during the end that is north. There have been some bits at the center, under construction.
Today, between rainfall showers, he got in a trip. Also had sunlight.
You will now drive about 7.3 kilometers of exemplary blacktop from a trailhead that is new Spokane – where in actuality the tracks cross overhead – down seriously to Marshall in which the trail currently stops in which the S. Scribner Rd. crosses the proper of means.
The trail is really an incline that is gentle to Marshall, where it concludes at an information kiosk on Scribner Rd. Ahead will be the NO NO signs and also the locked right of means ultimately causing Fish Lake Trailhead. That is for Stage III. Go as much as the Cheney Rd and employ the wide arms to get right down to Fish Lake and connect with the Columbia Plateau Trail and points south.
Fish Lake is an enjoyable trip. The path is defined on top of the relative part associated with the valley with good views and lined with pines. Active RR lines above and below keep things stimulating. Periodic benches are observed in the 1st four kilometers. The older pavement in Marshall is showing transverse cracks.
It appeared as if there was some after finishing up work action. As TB headed right right back, there have been more riders coming down seriously to Marshall.
